Spring has arrived! Flowers bloom, birds
chirping, cuckooing, welcoming the most beautiful month of nature. Mercury is rising gradually.
Precedently rising temperature year after
year, due to changing climatic conditions has been a global pattern.
At the mango orchards, in some pockets,
fruits have already matured and reaching the markets. Seems like the global
warming is affecting the season. This time we see little early maturity of
fruits. Due to absence of rain in the months of January & February, the
bloom which gave hopes for a near bumper harvest is seen burnt on the trees.
Harvest is expected to be 30-40% of the normal harvest (or even less) as the current situation prevails.
Overall the harvesting expected to start around
the beginning of last week of April for Alphonso mango in south and also in
western India.
India celebrated the festival of colours in
the 2nd week of March. Holi is a festival which reminds to forgive
& forget, embrace brethren and to live with love, peace and harmony. This
festival also falls in the last month of Hindi & other regional calenders
in India.
Ugadi is the new year for the states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh
which is on the 29th of this month. Our country is known for its
rich cultural diversity. Practically, every 50 or 100 km, there is a
distinctive difference in culture, be it language (or dialect), food, or
festivals. This is amazing that different parts of the country has different
calenders and that is the reason for different new year dates in different
states!
Radical changes are coming up….we have
already seen it beginning November last year. Yes, India is happening! Keep
looking up for more exciting news.
